When you schedule a maintenance visit with Pacific Heating & Cooling, our certified technician provides a complete checkup to keep your system running safely, efficiently, and reliably. Here’s what you can expect during heating maintenance in Tacoma and nearby areas:
A Detailed System Check
- Ask questions about your home and equipment to tailor the tune-up to your system.
- Clean or replace the standard 1″ air filter (included).
- Wash reusable filters, when present.
- Confirm the thermostat works properly and is programmed the way you prefer.
- Verify the system starts, cycles correctly, and meets target temperatures.
- Flush condensate drain lines when the system is paired with AC or a heat pump.
Safety & Component Inspection
For gas furnaces
- Clean burners and the flame sensor.
- Test gas pressure; check for gas leaks and carbon monoxide.
- Examine the heat exchanger, control board, and blower motor.
For electric furnaces
- Inspect and vacuum blower and electrical compartments.
- Test electric heating elements.
For all systems
- Test system safeties and safety switches.
- Inspect contactors, capacitors, fan motors, and control boards.
- Check for corrosion, overheating, or damaged wiring.
Performance Testing
- Run the system and capture a full set of readings.
- Measure amperage draw, static pressure, airflow, and supply/return temperatures.
For AC & heat pump systems
- Check refrigerant levels and pressures.
- Test the defrost cycle (in heating mode for heat pumps).
- Let the system run for ~20 minutes to confirm stabilized performance.
Preventive Cleaning
- Vacuum burner and blower compartments.
- Clean indoor coils when accessible.
- Wash the outdoor heat pump or AC condenser at every tune-up.
