Puyallup Heat Pump Installation | Trane System in 98375

rane furnace and air conditioner installation in Puyallup attic — 98375

Pacific Heating & Cooling replaced an aging Carrier heating system in a Puyallup attic with a new Trane gas furnace, Trane air conditioner, a dedicated electrical circuit, and a smart thermostat, giving a homeowner who was new to the property dependable year-round comfort and a system they could actually understand.

Project Overview

  • Location: Puyallup, WA 98375
  • Home Type: Single-family home, attic-installed system
  • System Type: Full heating and cooling replacement, new electrical circuit
  • Completion Date: March 30, 2026
  • Lead Technician: Amanda Garrison
  • Prior System: Carrier, 75,000 BTU, 10+ years
  • New System Capacity: 2.5-ton Trane heat pump and furnace

The Challenge

When this Puyallup homeowner reached out to Pacific, they had recently moved into the home and were not entirely sure what heating and cooling equipment was installed. The existing system was an older Carrier unit rated at approximately 75,000 BTU, and they were looking for cooling options for the first time in this home.

A Pacific advisor came out to assess the system and the attic setup. The equipment was more than ten years old, the home had no dedicated electrical circuit for a cooling system, and the attic installation had specific requirements around equipment fit and condensate drainage. Rather than patch an aging system, the homeowner wanted to understand their options for a full replacement.

What this job required:

  • Replace the aging Carrier heating system with a matched Trane furnace and air conditioner
  • Install a brand-new dedicated electrical circuit from the main service panel
  • Fit equipment properly in the existing attic space with a drain pan for condensate management
  • Include whole-home duct cleaning as part of the installation
  • Provide a smart thermostat for easy control going forward
  • Offer financing so the homeowner could move forward without delay

Our Solution

Pacific installed a matched Trane gas furnace and air conditioner in the attic, built around the home’s existing duct system. Because no dedicated electrical circuit existed for cooling, the team ran a new circuit from the main service panel as part of the same visit. A drain pan was installed beneath the air handler to protect the attic space, and the ductwork was cleaned before the new system started running through it.

Amanda Garrison led the installation crew. The system was registered for an extended warranty, and the homeowner enrolled in Pacific’s Peace of Mind Club with two years of heating and cooling tune-ups included. Financing was arranged so the project could move forward the same week as the proposal.

The project also qualified for a $1,500 PSE instant rebate for converting from an electric furnace to a heat pump system, which Pacific coordinated on the homeowner’s behalf. Learn more about heat pump rebates available in the Tacoma area.

Why This Matters for Puyallup Homeowners

Puyallup homeowners are increasingly dealing with a version of the same situation Nicholas faced: an older system in an attic or utility space, uncertainty about what they have, and no clear path to adding cooling without a major electrical upgrade. Attic installations are common across 98375 and the surrounding zip codes, and they require installers who understand the specific challenges of that environment, including drainage, access, proper support, and code compliance for new electrical work.

Pacific handles all of it in a single coordinated installation. That matters because the alternative is often piecing together multiple contractors, trying to coordinate timelines, and ending up with equipment that was not spec’d to work together. When a homeowner is new to a property, that kind of coordination risk is the last thing they need.

The Western Washington climate also makes a properly matched furnace-and-AC system a long-term investment. Wet winters and increasingly warm summers put meaningful demands on home comfort equipment. A Trane S-Series furnace and Choice Series air conditioner, installed correctly with appropriate electrical support and duct cleaning, is built to handle those demands for 15 or more years with regular maintenance.
