What to Expect During a Pacific Heating & Cooling Precision Tune-Up

When you schedule a maintenance visit with Pacific Heating & Cooling, our certified technician will provide a complete checkup to make sure your system is running safely, efficiently, and reliably. Here’s what you can expect:

A Detailed System Check

  • We ask questions about your home and equipment so we can tailor the tune-up to your system

  • Clean or replace your air filter (standard 1” filter included)

  • Wash washable filters (if present)

  • Confirm your thermostat is working properly and programmed the way you like

  • Make sure the system is starting, cycling, and producing the right temperature

  • Flush drain lines if your system is connected to AC or a heat pump

Safety & Component Inspection

  • For gas furnaces:

    • Clean burners and flame sensor

    • Test gas pressure and check for gas leaks and carbon monoxide

    • Examine the heat exchanger, circuit board, and blower motor

  • For electric furnaces:

    • Inspect and vacuum blower and electrical compartments

    • Test electric heating elements

  • For all systems:

    • Test system safeties and safety switches

    • Inspect contactors, capacitors, fan motors, and control boards

    • Check for corrosion, overheating, or damaged wiring

Performance Testing

  • Run the system and take a full set of readings

  • Measure amperage draw, static pressure, airflow, and vent temperatures

  • For AC and heat pump systems:

    • Check refrigerant levels and pressures

    • Test defrost cycle (heat pump heating)

    • Let the system run for 20 minutes to confirm stabilized performance

Preventive Cleaning

  • Vacuum the burner and blower compartments

  • Clean indoor coils (when accessible)

  • Wash the outdoor heat pump or AC condenser unit during every tune-up

The technician service both our AC and furnace. He said it would take 4 hours at the most. He spent 1 hour servicing both units and about 1 hour 15 minutes in his van.
